New Mexico Suncats to Build State's First Dedicated Youth Softball Training Facility
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Suncats, a premier softball club and college prep program, have announced plans to construct the state's first softball training facility solely focused on girls' softball. This new Suncat Softball Academy will be used to train female athletes and prepare them for college recruitment.
New Mexico currently lacks a dedicated softball training facility. Existing venues are primarily baseball-focused and often fall short of meeting the specific needs of female athletes.
The Suncats organization has acquired a 2.15-acre property on Albuquerque's Westside, located at the southwest corner of Coors Boulevard and Eagle Ranch Road. This site is designated for the construction of a two-story multipurpose building.
New Mexico is on the cusp of a significant transformation in its softball landscape with the groundbreaking of a new facility in the coming weeks. Brandon Cable, co-founder of Suncats, enthusiastically announced a building fundraising campaign to support this initiative. Cable emphasized the unprecedented nature of this facility for New Mexico, expressing confidence that it will be a game-changer for the sport in the region.
Suncat Fastpitch Academy Training Center, slated to open in 2027, will offer training in batting, fielding, and fundamental skills, alongside strength and conditioning, and academic support.
